Its creation and its mission

History of the Foundation
Back in 1990, budget restrictions for equipment moved some members of the Board of Directors of the Papineau Hospital to form a foundation whose aim was to raise money for the acquisition of specialized medical equipment. Since its inception in 1990, the Fondation Santé de Papineau has proven to be a corner stone.
The Foundation has added a community theme to its original objectives, following its merger in April 2008 with the Fondation du CLSC de la Vallée-de-la-Lièvre. In retrospect, it is fair to say that the organization has taken on an ever increasing importance in the communities it serves. The quantity, the diverseness and the size of the fundraising attest to its constant evolution.
Obviously, we are well aware that the dynamic growth of the Foundation is due in large part to the generosity of its supporters and the continued cooperation of the dedicated volunteers. The loyalty of the donors and volunteers is always a source of inspiration for the Foundation.
Our health needs are becoming more and more critical. The population knows that quality off health care at the Papineau Hospital and at its long term care facility, Centre d’hébergement Vallée-de-la-Lièvre du CSSS Papineau ,plus programs offered by the CLSC of the Vallée –de-la-Lièvre depends on competent staff and on up-to-date equipment.
Modern medical equipment and the support to the community are essential in the quest to deliver mandated health services. The reality is that government funds on their own are not enough.
This is where the Fondation Santé de Papineau leads the way.
Our mission
To establish, organize, maintain and develop funds in order to improve the medical care at the Hôpital Papineau, Centre d’hébergement Vallée-de-la-Lièvre (hospital pavilion and senior citizens home) and the CLSC of CSSS Papineau for the users of its territory: Vallée-de-la-Lièvre and Vallée-de-la-Petite-Nation.
